Bake and cool cookies before decorating. Get Ann Clark's no-fail sugar cookie recipe here. Or, try something new with our Sour Cream Cookie recipe. Make sure cookies are fully cooled. If they are warm, the icing will run off of them. Make royal icing. Learn how to mix different consistencies of royal icing here>>

2Using the red piping consistency royal icing, outline the sections of the truck as shown in the photo. Be sure to not outline the tree or the wheels with red icing.
-
3Using the red flood consistency royal icing, fill in the front section of the truck. Let this section dry for 10-20 minutes until just crusted over before moving onto the next step. You can use a scribe tool or toothpick to move the icing around, ensuring full coverage and eliminating air bubbles.
-
4Using the red piping consistency royal icing, pipe a squiggle line of icing in the middle of the small sections of the truck, above the tires. This will help prevent any cratering, or holes, that sometimes occur in small flooded sections.

8Using the white flood consistency royal icing, fill in the truck's front window and smooth out the icing as needed with your scribe tool or toothpick.

Using the black outline consistency royal icing, draw two circles for the tires. Fill in with the black flood consistency royal icing.
-
10Using the brown piping consistency royal icing, pipe a line in the middle of the tree section. This line will mostly be covered up in our final design, but it will peak through and will also help guide our piping in the following steps.

11Using the red piping consistency royal icing, pipe a small section for the truck door. Shape as needed with your scribe tool or toothpick. Make sure to do this carefully as the flood base is likely still wet, although it should be just crusted over.
-
12Using the green piping consistency royal icing, pipe the tree branches to fill the area as shown. I opted to cut my piping bag to create thin lines. You can alternatively cut a larger hole in your bag to have thicker lines.

Use the black royal icing to pipe a small circle in the middle of the two black tires. These will serve as the hubs of the tires and make the truck look more complete.
