Mix a small amount of brown gel food color and water in a clean paint palette or small bowl. Make sure there are not any clumps of gel food color on the brush. Wipe with a clean paper towel if necessary.

With the brush mildly saturated with the brown colored liquid, use the dry brush bristles to splatter the brown color onto the cookie.
Pro Tip: Place cookie on clean paper towels for this step, as it can get messy. Ensure your splatter is fine by only having the brush mildly saturated. You do not want large drops of liquid on the cookie. -
